Movie day

Is there a difference to back to back movies and a movie marathon?

I only discovered the existence/capability of watching 2 movies in one go at the cinema some years back, thanks to some college mates.

Today I revisited this activity alone. Since it's Wednesday. Muahahaha.
I went for Scrappy Coco and Walle this afternoon.
Scrappy Coco was a mind-blowing outrageously absurd disgustingly ridiculous funny show.
It's what I expected from a show having both Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider in it.
Was surprised that Mariah Carey made an appearance as herself in the movie though.
Not surprised that this film has received comments/reviews that it's insulting/insensitive/disrespectful.
I can't even bear to think of the film with it's real title. It's very lame!

Walle was.......sweet.mushy.adorable.innocent...kind of funny.
I totally adore Mo the obsessive robot who's programmed to clean up any foreign contamination that come aboard the ship. Him chasing after Walle (because he produces dirt tracks wherever he went) was just sooooooooo cute. I think I'd rather have him than Walle. Save me from cleaning up after myself all the time.
The show projected these robots having emotions/longing for company, which I kinda don't agree with. I don't believe that AI can ever reach that level. After all, AI is mimicking and reprocessing human behavior at the most. So, robots having their own emotions and having freewill, belongs in the imaginary world.
At the same time, showing every human as fat blobs lying on lazy chairs 24/7 in the future where everything is done by robots have a sense of truth in it. And they didn't even have to chew their food, everything was in liquid form sold in a cup. Talk about laziness. I wondered how the babies were made, because there seems to be no personal touch contact between humans except for one accidental hand touching caused by seeing Walle and Eve flying in outer space.

Catch them before it's too late! Muahahaha....

Going bananas

For once, my dad couldn't finish his bananas.
There was too many leftover and growing too ripe.
So yesterday I offered to get rid of them. At dinner time. Sweet music to his ears.
But I wasn't going to eat them. Crazy....there was like 9 leftovers. And these are the green skin type which are longer than the usual bananas. Talk about ALOT!

Used them for a banana cake instead!
Hahahaha!

Man, I was really sweating with this. Why?
Because:
1. There was too many leftover bananas. So when the recipe called for 4 bananas, I put in 5 instead.
2. I only discovered I had 3 eggs instead of 4 (which what the recipe wanted) AFTER I had smashed my bananas.
3. I forgot to soften my butter. Then it wont mix with the sugar. So to quickly soften the butter, I put it over a pot of boiling water and then it melted alright, too fast too furious I ended up with completely melted butter-sugary substance which won't become white and fluffy no matter how much I beat.

So everything was waiting for a disastrous result.......

Watery batter....

What a relief when it turned out this way.
A tad too fair in the corners.
A bit oily.....I think too much butter.
But at least no cracks, weee!!!

Close up....
Sneaking away in the dark.....

Splashing a dollop of chocolate sauce on them,
it mixes sugar high with banana happy high.

I wonder if all my cakes have reached their maximum height, or this was just weight down by the bananas.
Anyway it's all gone, my dad finished them faster than the brownies.
Talk about favoritism.

Chasing dark clouds....

I haven't woke up at 7am since Sunday.
This morning jumped out of bed and drag my dad for the trip to the beach he owe me.
I'm afraid I've lost touch with my selfish inner child and couldn't pull a tantrum yesterday when he wanted to rush back to mainland in the afternoon.
Man.....I'm getting old!
But at least he didn't get away with not going at all, as much as he tried to attempt it.
Faking grumpiness at being woken up at 7am does not work on me.
The retired queen of grumpiness knows all the tricks, you see. Muahaha.
Those were the good old days....

Neither of us knew how to get to the beach on this side of the sea.
It's been years since we ventured to Butterworth.
It was funny trying to decide which road will lead us to the tip of land.
We ended up at the Bagan Ajam layby after an unintentional turn into the new highway.
It did had a small stretch of sand. I guess I had to be grateful with touching sand at all with my feet. Wind blowing my hair.

With dark clouds looming overhead, just waiting to pour forth rain...I was like on borrowed time.
Hoping the rain won't come so soon.

It was beautiful watching Penang Island being covered with dark clouds and later on some parts disappearing in the mist like view.......we on this side separated only by a small stretch of sea.... yet it rained there and not here.
Awesomeness.

Found a lone huge driftwood, with small paw prints around it.
I have no idea if the driftwood's been a ....territory marked place.
The cutest paw prints around the driftwood!
Paw print of a bigger dog found in the sand.

Me thinks the sea breeze did something to my system.
I couldn't take a nap the whole afternoon!
Later in the evening, went for lok-lok and pasar malam with Jen although it was a wet day through and through.
It's just nice to hang out and fill our stomachs. Muahaha!
Suffice to say, I slept very well last night.

A pot of soup.

Instant bah kut teh is simply splendid.
I'm still amazed that a small packet of spices can make such a marvelous pot of soup.

Today I've decided to avoid taking any sugary stuff at home.
Hoping to balance out the brownie impact yesterday.
And am trying my hardest to ignore the screams of the brownies begging me to eat them whenever I open the fridge door.
I think it's time I persuade my dad to have a few more of them. Muahahaha.

I hope that the rest of my holiday will be filled with meaningful activities instead of just sleeping, eating and lazying like a bum. Which technically I sorta am at the moment.

I was suggesting to my dad that we go to the beach tomorrow, and he said 'Ask me go beach with you? Beach should go with your friend.' something to that intention in Hokkien. Then I replied him 'Friends working.' To which he nodded and went 'Oh, ya....'. And then I added 'You find for me la' jokingly because his tone when he said 'your friend' was something else if you get my drift. To which he replied in a very matter of fact way, 'There's a lot of gigolos on the beach. All those dark indian beach boys taking care of the boats and jet skis are mostly gigolos.' I was in shock :O :O....I went 'What??? How you know?' And he said 'It was in the newspaper.....'

LoL.........I can't believe he is that open-minded.
Or maybe he's terribly pessimistic. But still....out of his mouth it was just seriously outrageous to my ears.
And NO I'm not going to look for a gigolo tomorrow. Or ever.

*updated 5.30pm*
PS: Odie's back. I couldn't really recognize him from far without his scars. Back to remembering the number plate.

It's not a cake.....

But I think third time's a charm.
Was trying to follow this recipe.
Replacing the white chocolate with.....loads of chocolate chips.
The outcome......
Muahaha! On first look out of A#, I was shocked it was so flat.
Was expecting something a little higher.

At least there's no bits of metal in it this time.
That would be like finding treasure in the desert.
In this case.
Hehehe!I think I'm happy with the outcome.
Now I know the difference between brownie and cake.

Without flash the color is....pale.

'Too sweet. I like it but must drink water with it.'
That's my dad's comment.
Weird.

I don't think it's too sweet.
Though I have to confess this:

I poured a little too much sugar into the measuring cup.
And couldn't scoop it back out without wasting it.
Hehehe!

I haven't got a clue why there's a crispy layer on top.
But looking at brownie photos on the web......they sorta have a smooth surface.
So I guess that's how it's suppose to be.
That's kind of reassuring.
Except mine is like a desert or wrinkled like an old man's face.
Fit for an old man's tummy.
Oh man.......I'm having a sugar high right now.
Excuse the terrible humor.
Kakakakaka!

My own description:
On first bite, the outer layer is harder and then it's just very textured gooey inside.
Thick like chocolate.
Taste like candy.
Think caramel.
Just very fudgy caramel.

The no blues Monday.

It's been a truly blessed weekend, where jamming, reading and snacking on chocolates was all fulfilled as planned.

'I am here.'
God said.
And yes He is here.

My reading speed has significantly reduced these days.
I only managed 2 books in 3 days. Chiaklat.
Where did the good old days go where I could manage 2 in a day?

Odie's been sent for plastic surgery this morning to remove the scars and bump on his butt.
I was pretty intense on getting him all pretty again when the first bump appeared ages ago, but now I've got so used to the scratches and the bump it kinda seems unnecessary to get him pretty again.
But my dad insisted since I'm off for quite a while. Vain Odie. Must have been sending signals to my dad behind my back.
Now I'm stuck at home for the next 2 days.
But it's fine because.....

I just spent the afternoon out shopping with my dad.
Muahahaha, the power of persuasion is absolutely incredible when you're able to persuade someone to buy a shirt in your favorite color. Now he finally got a green shirt.
I just love it.
The flash is not doing justice to how lovely the green really is.

My *slight* fetish for shiny stuff lead to the Weee moment of getting this...........It's a blink blink!! Hehehehe....
And just the right height I want.
Too bad I had to fork out $$ for this,
just because they won't accept credit card for purchases below RM50.
Else, I won't have spent a single cent today.

After all that, to the food section.....
And there was the 2 bags of junk food and a couple of drink supply I didn't have to pay for.
I even managed to sneak in a box of self-raising flour that I won't spent my own $$ on into the trolley.
Muahahaha....!
This is what I call holiday.
Now if I can only control myself from gaining weight this 2 weeks it will be perfect.
But I'm hopeless as usual.

A late night post

So it's over.
The bill came up to RM300 for my farewell lunch consisting of 8 of us.
I wish real hard the bill wasn't equally split to my colleagues.
The bosses should cover the damage more.
I stuck my tongue out to my boss. *grins*
And I tried to trip my boss for teasing me silly. *double grins*
After all it was my last day.
I had nothing to lose being a little evil. Muahaha!

At the end of the day, I didn't want to be alone.
Thanks Eli and Ben for companying me for dinner and a movie.
'Meet Dave' was ridiculously hilarious.
And a good distraction to keep me from self-analyzing my last day at work.

My first day of freedom....
A void appeared and I couldn't get away from.
Spent hours sleeping and sleeping and sleeping.
To waste away the day until I was back home again.
*Antenna....you owe me a dinner!!!*

I couldn't wait to get back home and was delayed by my darn braces needing 2 visits instead of one.......and it didn't help that she tells me the next time one of these brackets fall off I'm going to be charged a whooping RM30. Bleah.

All is well now I'm back home.
Back in my green room, where everything outside just fades away. *bliss*
Been to the optometrist.
Been to the library.
Been to pasar malam.
It's good to be distracted.

I'm friends with real gems.

Now looking forward to a splendid weekend,
Jamming with the worship team.
Lying in bed reading the borrowed books.
Snacking on chocolates.
And please God, just fill this emptiness.

It's the final countdown

I haven't got ready my bye email.
One of the things I've contemplate on is having a fake virus attached to the email.
Or maybe just a huge BYE.
Muahahaha!

Imagine being able to throw a tantrum with my boss because I'm fearless now that I'm leaving.
Sometimes I can't believe it myself, how at ease I am with my boss. Just outrageous.
To the point where I'm declared 'terrible' right here in the office.
*sigh*

I have 2 more days to go.

One final t-con with selfishly work obsessed people.
If you are going to pretend to be nice, do it in style all the way through.
*At least I hope Monkey will be in on it and he'll talk non-stop and mesmerize me again*
I've even told my boss 'I TOLD YOU SO'......... hmph!
I wish I can stop fuming about these idiots who will reply my boss's email on top of my email but ignore me completely when I send it out earlier on. How dare they? Just because they are so high up in the organization. Hmph. On one hand, I won't have to deal with them anymore. In reality, this type of people exist everywhere.

The dreaded pretentious meal to come.
How to say 'Thank you' when you don't want it in the beginning?
Yet it would be so unethical to do a disappearing trick.
Bleah.

I think I'm starting to have a panic attack.......

The 8th day of the 8th month of year 2008

Another cute one from google.

On another hand, last night was Raz's last time on the 8tv quickie.
He's pretty 'terrible' with his language on the show but watching the farewell video clips his fellow presenters left him and his in reply was quite touching.
Can't wait to see the new host tonight.
Is this the season of closure and new beginnings? Hahaha....

I bet there are couples out there getting married in throngs today.

Of Late

Been staying back late in the office in these final days.
It's good to have proper closure.
5 more days to go.

I had took some pictures with Blinky, too busy (or lazy) to update.
So head over to San's to feast your eyes on something we had a while back.
Lovely pictures. Won't mind going again with people who can accept mediocre food like Sushi King.

Looking at my creation, how far I've come.
I've made a monster, giving it wings of it's own.
Who can contain it, when I'm not here anymore.
It's time to let go, it's hard not to be ruthless.
Withholding the truth, abstaining from lying.
To find a balance, giving hope to the successors.
When you know deep down better than that.

So tired.

The Dark Knight

I absolutely love love love love love The Dark Knight.

Especially the Joker's twisted horrible mind.
Remembering that line "Why so serious?" and what happened to the poor man on the screen gives me the chills.
Very gruesome.

And I loved this line too:
The Joker: You just couldn't let me go could you? This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. You truly are incorruptible aren't you? You won't kill me out of some misplaced sense of self-righteousness, and I won't kill you, because you're just too much fun. I think you and I are destined to do this forever.

It's beautiful.

And the last line of the show......

Lt. James Gordon: Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now...and so we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not a hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector...a dark knight.

It makes you wanna weep and cheer for him at the same time.

The Starbucks beverage conversation

"Hi Mister Java Chip. Can I see your passport?"
"It's none of your business, is it? After all you're from abroad yourself."
"Well, at least I have a legal working permit here. I came with a dollop of cream."
"I came with whipped cream. And if you don't get off my back, I'll whip you too"

"Now, there's no need to be threatening me here. There's been news of illegal immigrants coming in from Indonesia, I just need to be sure you're here legally."
*Mister Java Chip burst out laughing*
"What now, sir?"
"I can assure you, Java Chip doesn't have any lineage from Java, Indonesia. I'm a blend of chocolate chips and coffee."
"Oh, I see. Now names can be deceiving, can't they? So why do they call you Java Chip?"
"It's beyond me. Now, begone with you."
"Yes, sir. I apologize for the inconvenience. Have a good day, sir!"

Hahahahahahahaha!
I know....it doesn't make any sense.
I don't even know if the coffee beans are from Java.
Pictures from Vi's camera on her trip back home a while back.
It's been a quiet week.
I'm hoping for a quiet weekend too.
