Wind-blown away

One of the things I will miss most about going to work at 5am in the morning is lowering down both car windows and enjoying the cool breeze while trying to keep both my eyes on the road and gazing at the stars at the same time.
I haven't succeeded yet in putting my whole head out while driving with one arm and leg on the pedal. Someday.

A while back, Jen and I made a trip to an isolated house in the middle of the night.
A good stretch of the way was really dark and eerie with not a single car passing or behind us.

Let's just say that, on the way back with Jen driving instead of me....I lowered down the car window and more or less sit on the door frame, holding on to the hand support thingy on the ceiling and keeping one feet rooted to the car. Needless to say my seat belt was abandoned la.
It was super awesome to be able to...

Feel the breeze blowing at 60km/hour and gazing up at the stars.
Knowing that there's God up there.

If she could have gone up to 80km/hour...man that would have been a blast.

A long long time ago, I was in a car going 120-130km/hour.
The opportunity was there because the air-con wasn't working.

I regret that I didn't just unbuckle and do it this way back then.
All I did was stuck my head out, body still buckled down to the seat by the seat belt.
*sigh*

If anyone out there is willing to drive that fast or faster for me someday, do let me know.

I won't hold back this time.

Chocolate fingers

The weekly visit to the pasar malam brought out the vain me today.
Or maybe the chocolate lover in me.

You see when I chose this color, I didn't realize it looks like chocolate.
Until I painted it on my nails.
Now, it looks like I dipped my fingers in chocolate sauce and I'm tempted to just lick them.
Also I realized it's the same color as my heels, bought a few weeks back.
As in it's a tad shiny too.
A tad pathetic, I'd say. I should have gone bold and bought shiny green instead. *sigh*
Not only is my painting skill disastrous it caused a series of embarrassing events of sort.

Kissed

*back dated post*

I'll treasure the moments.
Of two consecutive Sundays.
When I was kissed on the cheek.
By two darling girls.

Man, kids are so trusting.
I swear I wasn't expecting to be able to fool them.
But it worked.

Muahahahaha!

Too bad one of them broke down in tears soon after..... I hope she recovers and forget about it.

Wee.....after so long I finally manage to have.....

.....a Friday afternoon post!!!!

I'm grateful that I get to leave the office at 2.30pm.
After a whole week of back to back training, staying on in the office for 12 hours and 10 hours twice each, I've reached the level where I just wanted to say....

Time out!!!

This morning while driving to work, my CD suddenly came upon the track 'Jesus loves me, this I know'. Listening to it, I was overwhelmed by how perfect the timing was. To be reminded of His love and His plans for me.

The sweet lyrics....
Jesus loves me this I know
For the bible tells me so
Little ones to Him belong
They are weak but He is strong
Yes Jesus loves me
Yes Jesus loves me
Yes Jesus loves me
The Bible tells me so

His love is so deep
His mercy so wide
His arms are so strong
His wisdom so high
His power so great
His promise so true
Jesus loves us me and you

His riches so free His peace is so pure
His grace is so sweet His Word is so sure
His plans are so good His pardon so kind
Jesus love us all the time

Jesus loves me this I know
For the Bible tells me so
And little ones to Him belong
We are so weak but He is strong

Googling that line came up with a cool article on the history of that song. Much like 'Twinkle, twinkle little star' had a history.
One of the most well-known children’s songs throughout the world is "Jesus loves me, this I know". Somehow that song, like "Amazing Grace", forms part of the spiritual memory banks of most adults. The vast majority of adults in Canada have gone as children either to Sunday School or Catechism. As a result, most Canadians, whether or not they currently attend church, have significant core memories connected with those early experiences. As a teenager, I found church boring and avoided it by golfing and skiing on Sunday mornings. But as a child, I remember enjoying Sunday School and looking forward to going. I’ve always liked to sing, and one of my favorite hymns as a child was "Jesus loves me, this I know". Even though I did not know Jesus personally, something touched me as I sang that song in Sunday School. Years later, I still feel deeply moved by this simple song.

Dr. Karl Barth was one of the most brilliant and complex intellectuals of the twentieth century. He wrote volume after massive volume on the meaning of life and faith. A reporter once asked Dr. Barth if he could summarize what he had said in all those volumes. Dr. Barth thought for a moment and then said: "Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so."

When Mao Tse Sung attempted to crush the church in China, things seemed very bleak. In 1972 however, a message leaked out which simply said: "The this I know people are well". The Communist authorities did not understand the message. But Christians all around the world knew instantly that this referred to the world’s most famous children’s hymn. Miraculously the Chinese Church, instead of being crushed, has boomed under persecution, growing from 1.5 million believers to 80 million by 1993.

The Warner Sisters
The author of this amazing little children’s song was Anna Bartlett Warner, sister o the famous 19th century writer, Susan B. Warner. Susan’s first novel The Wide Wide World was an instant success, second only to Uncle Tom’s Cabin, the most popular 19th century novel written in North America. Anna published her own novel Dollars and Cents under the pseudonym "Amy Lothrop". Anna and Susan collaborated together on fifteen fiction and children’s books. Neither sister ever married, so they shared a house on Constitution Island right across from the famous West Point Military Academy. The two sisters took a great interest in the Military Academy in which their uncle Thomas Warner was a chaplain and professor. As a result, they opened their home to the cadets and held Sunday School classes. Anna outlived her sickly sister by thirty years, and continued to run a very large Sunday School throughout her life. It was her invariable custom to write for her students a fresh hymn once a month.

No. 1 Spiritual Song
Great words without a great tune don’t get very far in the musical world. Fortunately William Batcheldor Bradbury stumbled across the "Jesus Loves Me" words, and wrote the now unforgettable tune. Thirteen years earlier, Bradbury had written the tune for the "Just as I am" hymn, which everyone nowadays associates with Billy Graham Crusades. In 1862, Bradbury found the "Jesus loves me" words in a best-selling 19th-century book, in which the words were spoken as a comforting poem to a dying child, John Fox. Along with his tune, Bradbury added his own chorus "Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus Loves me..." Within months, this song raced across the hearts of children throughout North America, and eventually all the continents of the world. Even after over 130 years, "Jesus Loves Me" is still the No. 1 spiritual song in the hearts of children around the world. Why is this? I believe that it is because all of us deep down need to know that God loves us. When I tell unchurched people in our Seymour/Deep Cove area that Jesus loves them, many of them genuinely thank me. One lady said: "Great...we can use lots of love". A man said: "Thanks...I’m going to need Him some day." Whatever situation we are in, all of us need to know that the Lord really loves and cares for each of us.

Weekly update

Can't think of another title to sum up the week.

It's been a good week.

Quirky #1
Met up with Antenna on a much overdue dinner on Monday night.
Was just craving for pasta. Intended to go to Francis's Western Food. But it was closed, so ended up in Breeks at Gurney.
Had a very good long conversation. I think I was too busy talking and listening to actually.......taste my food properly. Hahahahaha!
She summarized it this way......
September 8th, 2008 dinnerz!
POSTED AT 11:41 PM

Dinnerz with KK.

Conversations on: Life. Church. Ministry. Contact lenses. Maturity. Comfort. Plans. Dreams. Would you date a younger guy? Writing. Thoughts. Washing machines and dryers. Floods. College. CF. What does passion fruit taste like?Thinking too much. Male leadership. Work. Youth. Rants. Music. Worship. Words.

It so amuses me to see that all listed down.
And that wasn't the end of what she blogged on.
To read on what comes after that go here.
Muahahahaha! (Sorry, Antenna for the publicity. I couldn't help it! Prolly because it rings a bell in my soul too! LOL!)
Somethings just comes with age.
Maybe it's just a phase we all just have to go through with God.
Anyway, it was just bliss. Friends like that are so rare.

Quirky #2
The little things I've discovered.
A bum is someone in quite a high level position. So, trust me when I say you don't want to be a bum there. Lol!
When they mention Chihuahua.......they are not talking about cute dogs.

Quirky #3
Don't curse yourself.
Some people imagine out loud a terrible scenario for themselves (like sharing the last box of tako balls sold and no more laksa) and when it happens, it's so darn hilarious to witness. (Thank God I wasn't all that hungry tonight, Jen!) LOL!

But seriously, I believe that saying out loud bad scenarios or self criticizing out loud, allows your brain to subconsciously proclaims/believe that it happens.
It's like repeating a mantra over and over again makes you believe in it.
Because out loud is so much more real than kept inside your head.
So, whenever someone goes into "You don't know yet *bad scenario example input here* can happen to you" mode, I'll go into "Don't curse me" mode. And I mean it.

A very much needed/delayed post

Oh goshhhh it's been so long!!!
Like I've been starved for no reason.
The telephone line was dead for a week long since the 28th last month!!!

The Thursday after my movie marathon, I went to the new Jusco with my dad.

They have arrived. They have finally arrived. *wipes away tears of joy*
I was so happy that I couldn't stop grinning while waiting for my turn to choose them.
I think I could have kneel ed on the ground and worship the shop if it wasn't so embarassing.
And right next to the toilet entrance.
I am not ashamed to admit that I had 5 out of 6 for dinner that night.

I wish I can post up the pics in Blinky. Unfortunately, he's lock in my drawer which I forgot to bring the keys back from Penang.
I think those who knows what I've been dying for to arrive in Penang will understand when I just mention 'them'. Muahahaha!

Friday, Saturday and Sunday was just a splendid jam fest for me.
Most memorable of all was when a whole bunch of us sneak out during the Saturday night service for dinner because we were starving, and someone called us to inform us service was over while we were away.
Boy everyone panicked at that and we just quickly gobble up our food and drinks to rush back!
It was the first time for me and Abigail to have sneak out and done something like that.
Without our wallets summore.
And needless to say we were laughing hysterically all the way there at the thought of what-if Ps. found out. Which he did, which made all things more amusing because some of the older band mates were so apologetic!
Hahahahaha!

Needless to say, I had a 7-hour nap on Sunday after noon after all that excitement 3 days in a row.
Monday was spent getting ready to go back out to Penang.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The rest of the week's been.......truly truly truly blessed.
I've fallen in love again.
Is it harder? Will it last longer? I have no idea.
At this point in time, all I can say is.......it felt exactly the same like the first time.
Even though there's so much more at stake now.
And deep down, the word that sprouts out of nothing is this 3 words.
Bring it on.
Even though it's overwhelming right now.
With God, all things are possible.
Your will, O Lord. Not mine.
