Lunch at Secawan.

A time to enjoy good food.
And sit to have just a moment.
To reflect and to pour out.
Those raging, conflicting thoughts.

Home

Where "a million miles for a million dollars' cannot reach me.

It's been quite a holiday where it wasn't much fun.
But it wasn't too awful either.
Except for the gazillion loops the cd was on.
If only the lyrics weren't so mindless.
And maybe if there was proper Internet everywhere.

I'm sooooo glad I am home.

Days of Infinite Loops

I want to remember this week.
How I only had three days of work yet was dumped the most incredible thing.

I made my own map from scratch.

Words cannot truly express my joy at this opportunity.

More than anything, I want to remember that feeling as my heart warmed with pleasure through it all.
I felt so alive. Like this was what I always dreamed of coming finally true.
At first, I nearly cried because I was afraid I won't be able to finish.
I stayed focus on the fact that I was helping Taz out.
How an honor it is to work on his stuff because he is away (besides the fact that I adore him).

Despite all the roadblocks I faced, somehow I was still warmed inside.
Tired as I was, I manage to complete it without shedding a single tear.
I also learned so much in just three days.

How if your map test ran into an infinite loop, not only you need to kill your process but need to kill the threads as well. (I'm so thankful no one complained about the threads running wild overnight.)

How putting temporary fields, in the same segment below the actual fields you need is a huge NO.

How temporary fields, tagged with $$$ are populated by putting the rules and definition for them, in the actual fields you are getting the values from.

How adding days to dates are made by adding these <<.

How everything have to match in levels of groups and segments on both sides to make things work.

How spelling is so important else you would spend hours wondering why the code doesn't work.

And what a bonus it was to create my own codelist too.

These many little things makes a person dream a little more of becoming a developer.
Despite the snide remarks that reminds me I am no where near what a developer is in terms of experience or understanding, I'm learning.
Even if Taz comes back and makes his own 'cleaner' map, I will remember that I have made this.

It's moments like this that reminds me God is watching over me in my workplace.
How at every job milestone, He was in charge and still is in charge despite me being in the same place for nearly a decade now.
For dreams do not get dashed, unless He allows it to carve a different path for me.
And I haven't known otherwise up to now.
