Haha, thanks San for helping fix and accident 'O'. I'm most satisfied with the last one because I made the word 'God' out from scratch, enlarge it and manage to line it up back.
I am so darn indecisive in choosing the combinations of background colors to use!!!!
Why are there so many colors in this world.......Brilliant, vibrant, alive, dull, dark.........

If time allowed, I'd love to make a series of pretty pretty like this, lame as it is. What to do, I'm not artsy. Haha!

KhunTai Thai Restaurant in Butterworth

Warning: Pictures are blur because I was trying to capture as many pictures as I can before I got scolded! Hehehe!!

So yeah, on Sunday night, we went to this place called Khun Tai in Butterworth.


I forgot to take a picture of the ambience but the moment I reach there I squealed "Romantic-nyer" because tables are put under huts with warm orange lights..... everything was bamboo bamboo and cosy looking.
I squealed again when I saw my 2nd aunt and other relatives was coincidentally having dinner there!! Hahaha!
I later on sneak up on her, and gave her a shock that startled her til she drop her fork! *oops* Hehehehehehehehehehe!!!! It was their first time there too. Later on she came over to our table and sat with us throughout our meal. We more or less 'force' her to try the dishes we had, although she just finish her dinner! I miss spending time with her very much, after all she's ohana.

On with the pictures,

The big big prawns they have there in the tanks.... we didn't order because we just had alot for CNY!

Kangkong Deep Fried in Flour........it came with thai chilli sauce which was really thick. The combination of sauce with the fluffyness of the flour was a sweet yet chrunchy and would have been better appreciated, if we weren't so hot and spiced out most of the time
by the main dish... which was this.........
Steamed fish cooked Keng Som style, whatever that meant! It's sour and spicy at the same time, but is of a much lighter shade than tomyam.......... The waiter actually suggested us to fry the fish, but dad doesn't like fried fish so we chose the steam version. I imagine that if it was fried it will be like.......fried fish in soup?!?! Although it came in a fish hot plate, it had loads of soup, there was even a bowl of soup and veggies for us to add on to the steaming hot plate. Usually fish in hot plate is cooked with gravy. This was something different, that we were drinking the soup like tomyam!
What was cool was that the steaming hot plate came with charcoal under it.....loads of charcoal to keep the soup boiling throughout the meal! I had to take the soup out....and wait a while for it to cool before I can enjoy it without burning my tongue! Even so, the spicyness was just making me Whoooooh!!!

We ordered a plate of Belacan Fried Rice just to try. I like this dish. I like the pieces of meat especially (I think it's pork) because it was sweet (reminding me of char siew) and contrasted nicely with the Keng Som fish. There was even some chilli padi at a corner, but didn't make an impact because the Keng Som fish spiciness was Whoooh!! enough.


We tried the Cashew Nut Chicken, which thankfully the cashew nuts was cooked til soft enough for me to eat!!! What with my braces, I have to be extra careful where nuts are involved.
The dried chillies didn't make that much oomph to the chicken (which reminded me of spring water chicken, although this was completely boneless, maybe because spring water chicken are usually cooked with dried chillies), but it was alright because our main dish had override the rest in terms of flavors.

Lastly, we ordered this Fried Jelly Noodle. I wasn't impress by it as it was too dark and too short?(how to explain, I like my jelly noodles long long!) but it was okay as a side dish.

Having described all that, the bill came up to over RM70......we ordered 3 coconuts (at rm3.50 each is steep!!) which caused our bill to go up that much or else it would have been only about rm60. The service was pretty fast, and the place got so packed by the time we finish that there were people standing around waiting for empty places!
There is a lot more dishes we haven't tried, I can't wait for the next time to try the tomyam. From the looks of it at our relatives table, it was a rich red color. Hehe!

I know it's silly and even 'perasan', but being able to contribute even a tiny idea and seeing it come true and up there is just..........pure joy. Especially when the idea came from somewhere inside you where God resides. It wasn't even my idea, it was His.

This was even better than the donuts.

I got poked fun by Pastor Vincent driving up and seeing me standing in the middle of the road blocking his car while taking photos of the signboard.
"This shows how long you have not been coming to church la....." to which I replied "NOOOOOOOOOOO......just haven't been looking up there!!!!"

Talk about lameness, I found out from Pastor Sam after that, that the signboard have been up for about a month!!!!! Goshhhhhh.......

Seeing that signboard really made my Sunday. Talk about a great weekend, at night my bro came over and brought us to eat at Khun Tai. I'll blog that in another post.

Dunkin Donuts...

I love them.

So I really really really love Ee Shiuan for giving me a whole box of these!!!!!

I know....from KL there's JCo and Big Apple donuts as well, but here in Penang there's only Missy Donuts! Which I haven't even bothered to try because......they just don't look nice. So I was really really really grateful when she sms me while in Tapah and ask me if Penang got Dunkin Donuts or not.
What do you think I said? Did you know the nearest Dunkin Donuts I figure to Penang is at Tapah and the nearest Burger King is at Sungai Buloh?!!?!

I only expected her to buy my 2 favourite flavors Bavarian Cream and Choc Pudding, and I was very paiseh when it turns out to be a whole box!
So greedy the moment I saw them I didn't share my first piece. Choc Pudding. Oh man, I missed it soooo much. If it is possible to be lovesick (homesick? hahaha! After all, I am from there!) for KL this would be partially why. Chocolate oozing out the moment you bite into a Choc Pudding. And Burger King. But that's another story of its own.

Hehehe, after that I realize my manners and shared Double Choc and Vanilla with her.
But I embarassed myself further when her mum came to give me angpow and I had no hands to take it because I had split my Double Choc portion into two and was holding them with one hand each. Hahahaha! I told her if I had four hands I would be eating one hand after another, like an insect!!!

I honestly wanted her to keep the rest of the donuts, and let her family eat. But she insisted I took them home. So I had to sneak these up to my room after practice and gobble them up.....hehehehehehehhehe!

She told me the other sugar frosting one was Black Forest and there wasn't any Bavarian Cream at Tapah, but when I got to biting into that late at night and had Bavarian Cream oozing out....
Oh mannnn......I was just deliriously happy to be able to have my 2 favourite flavors in one day!!!!

As expected after eating 4 chocolate flavored donuts, my poop that night was really dark.
Hahahahahahahaha!!!!

Steamboats sitting in a row....

This year's CNY season marks the once in all my life so far that I had

steamboat 5 days in a row!!!!

1st Day - at grandma's
2nd Day- at grandma's (leftover from the night before)
3rd Day- at Mi's
4th Day-at Aunt's
5th Day- at Dragon Road with ex-CF mates (thank God this has BBQ!)

Nauseating? Yeah, sorta. Especially when the fish balls really overcooks.
I tried to keep this in mind though, "In Japan/Korea steamboats are a norm, why not for me..." Hahahaha!

But I look beyond the soup and see the faces of the people gathered around that hot steaming pot.....and am just so thankful for being there.
And it's not the food that matters but the people you are eating with that matters.

As much as I love collecting angpows, there are some gatherings that can only happen at CNY when everyone is back. However, I also learn that being greedy and trying to meet up with everyone when you only have a limited amount of time is darn impossible!!! Heh!

Some things money can't buy...

Like watching my dad play with Wallace. *rather than collecting angpows....*

Like sitting next to him, playing and teaching him PS2. *I even let him win!*

Like having a good long talk with Mi, and being hug by her nieces. *bliss*

Like pulling a little girl's plaits to the tune of toot-toot train. *and no cryings... teehehe!*

On the Eve of Chinese New Year...

I'm working.

Came in early, rather than late like I planned because the cooking for ancestral worship has started at home. Noise pollution level was too high for me to snooze a little longer.
There's a surprisingly large number of Chinese working......in my department alone.
From the criticism I get from relatives, it sounds like no Chinese in this world could be working on this day! Hmph!!
I'm strangely comforted by the sight of these people here, although I would rather have been alone and able to feed on the bandwidth for Nodame to load! Hahahaha!

One of my brackets pop out yesterday at lunchtime, and I had to leave the office early in order to get to my dentist. They weren't going to be open today. I just had a bracket coming out at Thaipusam!!! And now another!! I was prepared to be warned sternly. Therefore, I was sooooooo relieved to find my dentist so cheerful to the point of teasing me of eating CNY goodies already.....because a lot of her patients find her after CNY season due to accidents with CNY goodies!!! Hahaha!
I thank God that it broke yesterday instead of today when my dentist would have been closed already and I would have to suffer with a dangling bracket until after CNY is over.
Sometimes I think, God's timing is perfect!

CNY coming.....

Today's the 35th day of the year 2008.
Food been pouring in with CNY coming up.
And I'm finally well enough to savor those chocolates from Langkawi! Hehehehehe!!!!
I can't wait for the money flow ;)


Yesterday I took a drive out to Kulim, for baking purposes. Hahahaha!
On the way, was suppose to pick up a friend, but I missed the turning and ended up going alone.
It's so stupid....on the way back only got signboard showing the turning and the words 'Sg. Lembu' turn right there. There wasn't a signboard on the other side of the road for drivers going down to Kulim!!!!!

Anyway this was the first time I was driving alone all the way to Kulim.
I got lost. Did a few U-turns, before calling for directions. It was really lame, but not scary panicky wise, because it was in the afternoon and the traffic was less.
So finally got there and get to make cookies, hahahahahahahahaha! Too bad it's just round ones, dun get to play with cookie cutters or have a flour fight because the stuff was premix!
Hahahaha! On the way back, I made a detour to Pastor's taman just to make sure I still remember the way.

Nodame SP is taking a long time to load these days.......Eeek Eeek Eeek! But it's so niceeeee, especially the battle between the Black Prince and White Prince. Hahahahahaha!!!
