Golden glazed day

Driving to work today, everything I saw seems to be coated in gold.
The trees, the sea, the cars, the buildings coated in gold from the sunlight.
Some even had reflection of the sun on them.
Isn't that amazing???
It was for me absolutely beautiful. For once the sun didn't look harsh and powerful.

Am super happy right now, because there's a buffet lunch later with colleagues and bosses!!!!
Sponsored by bosses!!!!!
Hahahaha!
I am thinking of all the ice cream I can eat!!!!!
That's just a super duper nice thought!!!!!
Photos in the next update, if it's really grand.
Hehehehehehehehehehehe!!!!!!!!!

*updated at 3pm*
I'm soooooo full and sleepy I can't focus on my work!!
It wasn't grand. Kinda disappointed since it was at Northam Hotel.
I still miss Tao's green tea ice cream. Hahaha!

A week's update

Busy busy busy.....
Truth project started last Monday.
It's mind boggling.
Do you believe that what you believe is really real?

Wednesday was a good day off. Restful.

Finally got to watch Sweeney Todd!!!! Weee!!!
But it turns out that......
Sweeney Todd is the goriest movie I've ever watched in my entire life!
Buckets and buckets of blood......
Don't go alone.
As much as I love the musical conversations and beautifully coordinated words, it was a little too eeky in bloodiness.

Ever had a word stuck in your head that you shouldn't say out loud....yet even though you practice saying the right greeting it still comes out? Like saying, 'Morning, Uncle!!!....oops I mean Pastor, Pastor!!!' *sigh* I just want to hide my head somewhere else after that!

Been tiring with work. And CNY is coming soon!! Thanks San,Xian and Bee Hui for the chocolate cornflakes!!!!
Sugar high super high.......Money, money, come my way......this CNY!!!!

Lord, I'm amazed by You

That precise moment when we are all aligned exactly, hitting the exact same chord at the exact same time for the next song in that other key. Wow, man! Wow!!
God never cease to amaze me.

Just got my haircut. 3 inches is a little itty bitty heart breaking but....oh well, what's done is done.
Besides, it's time. And hair can grow back.

Yesterday night for supper, my dad had a lot of expired food rolled into one. Cooked by yours truly. Hahahahahaha!!!
Expired instant bihun.
Months old garlic that has changed color.
Months old carrot that has turned soft and bendable!
Years old expired oregano seasoning. (Shh....this he does not know was even in his bowl! Hahahahaha!!!)

Thank God he didn't diarrhea today! Hahahahahahahahhahahahaha!

Odie has his first 'tampal' on one of his tyres yesterday. My heart went a little Eek! when the man poke the screw-poked hole in the tyre even bigger in order to fit in the 'tampal'. Sigh!
Poor Odie, just over 1 year relationship with me and this had to happen.
Actually I tried to delay bringing him to the tyre shop by about 2 months. When it went flat, and I pump it up, that lasted 1 and a half month. Then it became flat again. And I got my dad to go with me to the tyre shop. Male support. Hahaha! All the way, he was nagging that it's dangerous to drive with a flat tyre.....should have gotten it done sooner....etc etc.
The truth is it's a little scary for me to go to a mechanic/tyre shop alone. You never know if the people there might suddenly push you into the man made hole they have to walk and fix below the car, and sorta kidnapped you....... Hahahahahahaha! Ok, there goes my imagination. But I'm sure some people understand what I mean. The fact that their work force them to look dirty and black all the time really doesn't help. Or maybe it's just me not so grown up yet. Hahahahaha!
Anyway, I really appreciate it when I get to have my dad do these things for me. Like renewing my road tax and pay my fines......With his experiences and been there done that......at least he knows what exactly to do and where to go to. I know I will be so doomed the day he starts nagging that I do it myself! Hahahahahahahahaha!

Thought of the day

~~Suddenly, the fulfillment of that sense of belonging isn't all that important anymore.
I must be somewhere good.
I must be loving myself more now.

"They believe that one should purge oneself of all desire to reach nirvana, yet the desire to purge oneself of all desire is a desire in itself. "
That is such a hilarious statement from someone's blog.
I wish my brains can make statements like that.

This is the 14th day of the year 2008

I wandered upon this favorite site of mine today. I've forgotten about it.
It teaches me that life doesn't have to be hard as a lone programmer.

The Ten Commandments of Egoless Programming

Someone recently cited this excellent builder.com article which outlines The Ten Commandments of Egoless Programming, as originally established in Jerry Weinberg's book The Psychology of Computer Programming:
  1. Understand and accept that you will make mistakes. The point is to find them early, before they make it into production. Fortunately, except for the few of us developing rocket guidance software at JPL, mistakes are rarely fatal in our industry, so we can, and should, learn, laugh, and move on.

  2. You are not your code. Remember that the entire point of a review is to find problems, and problems will be found. Don't take it personally when one is uncovered.

  3. No matter how much "karate" you know, someone else will always know more. Such an individual can teach you some new moves if you ask. Seek and accept input from others, especially when you think it's not needed.

  4. Don't rewrite code without consultation. There's a fine line between "fixing code" and "rewriting code." Know the difference, and pursue stylistic changes within the framework of a code review, not as a lone enforcer.

  5. Treat people who know less than you with respect, deference, and patience. Nontechnical people who deal with developers on a regular basis almost universally hold the opinion that we are prima donnas at best and crybabies at worst. Don't reinforce this stereotype with anger and impatience.

  6. The only constant in the world is change. Be open to it and accept it with a smile. Look at each change to your requirements, platform, or tool as a new challenge, not as some serious inconvenience to be fought.

  7. The only true authority stems from knowledge, not from position. Knowledge engenders authority, and authority engenders respect -- so if you want respect in an egoless environment, cultivate knowledge.

  8. Fight for what you believe, but gracefully accept defeat. Understand that sometimes your ideas will be overruled. Even if you do turn out to be right, don't take revenge or say, "I told you so" more than a few times at most, and don't make your dearly departed idea a martyr or rallying cry.

  9. Don't be "the guy in the room." Don't be the guy coding in the dark office emerging only to buy cola. The guy in the room is out of touch, out of sight, and out of control and has no place in an open, collaborative environment.

  10. Critique code instead of people -- be kind to the coder, not to the code. As much as possible, make all of your comments positive and oriented to improving the code. Relate comments to local standards, program specs, increased performance, etc.

The human principles of software are truly timeless; The Psychology of Computer Programming was written way back in 1971, a year after I was born!

Being sick makes you gasps for air more often then you'd admit. Especially when you try to work harder while being sick. A twisted mind even tells you that you like being sick because it makes you work harder which is a good thing for the company BUT not for your own health!

I woke up this morning thinking this is the 14th day of a new year, 2008. What have I been doing besides being sick and working hard this year? Nothing that memorable. There's been a wedding, Ling Yin's weekend back, late night watching CSI......that's about it. Sheesh!

Make good use of today!!!

I wish that....

I have a photo like this with him!!!!!

One day,
When I have 'forced' enough kids to take pictures with me.....
Gonna bring me such big smiles and joyful glee,
To have such a collection,
Remembering when they were sooooooo cute.
The years flies so quickly,
In a blink, they'll turn into awkward teenagers.
So now is the time,
to take pictures before they are all grown up.
Whether they like it or not.

Kakakakakakaka!!!!!

****On another note,

Today marks the 2nd year memorial day for Ah Kong (according to Chinese calendar)
It's not a complicated thing to remember a loved one,
And that it's alright with God although you are not sure,
When a shadowed empty slot just happens to be there,
And then the keys to the upper room literally fall into your hands without asking.
I can't explain the warm glow,
Of knowing that things fall into places with God there,
Regardless of where we are.

It's alright to make the effort to remember.

Nodame Cantabile again

Yay, now I have both the Mozart and Beethoven scores!!!!
Thank you, Ling Yin!!!!

It's just beautiful reading the music score, finally knowing how it's written, brilliantly woven...a union of two pianos.....two together....it's only romantic if you have watched Nodame Cantabile.
I don't think it's really really true that Mozart rediscovered the joy of music while composing the piece and playing with the lady.....although that's what one of the Sensei in the show said.

Now if only I have 2 pianos and four hands......
Nah.....I think 2 keyboards decked up will do......but how to grow 2 more hands????
And my brain needs to be super improved too......to manage four hands playing different notes and dynamics at the same time.

Ok, that was gibberish.....we are made in the image of God.......maybe I can hire 2 pianist to play....
More realistic.....except for the $$$ part.....

It seems that Nodame Cantabile has made it to 8tv!!! That proves it's a good show....
Haha!

I wish that....

This is all mine and mine alone!!..........*sigh*

A Blessed New Year......

Isaiah 43:18-19

18 Do not remember the former things,
Nor consider the things of old.
19 Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.

A year of new beginnings.
Reminds me of
Stephen Gately's first (one and only?) solo album.
New Beginning.

New dreams.
New hopes.

I can't think with a sore throat. *sigh*
