Everyone loves food. One way or another. It's undeniable. For me, just that there's a lot of restraint that goes with eating, or shall I say consequences (calories added on, unburned up,etc etc). But anyhow, this eating spree wasn't pre planned. It just happens to be that on 24th Oct I had dinner with my cousin at
Japin Restaurant in Queensbay Mall. This was what I had.

Basically what I ate was beef cooked with onions with a side of mash potatoes and salad. It comes in a set with white rice, miso soup, dessert (tong sui) and a drink of your choice. Don't worry (Ko, in case you ever read this), I couldn't finish all of it. I more or less made my cousin eat up the miso soup and dessert. But I just love the beef, even though every single piece had some fat or muscles that tend to stick to the brackets in my mouth, the onions was enough to overwhelm the smell of beef but not too much (Too much to me is when you start burping or farting okayyy).
I persuaded my cousin to not order a set because I already ordered one, so instead she ate this and just ordered an extra drink.
Chicken fried in pieces in uh... flour coating like fritters or fillet. With egg beneath the rice in the bowl. The black garnishing on top are seaweed. This dish is given a choice of ala carte or with set (an additional RM3.50 or RM3.80, I can't remember) , while mine wasn't. It's known as katsudon, I've seen a couple of japanese restaurants having it.
And then on Thursday 25th, happens to be I went out during lunch time with Elle. Haha, that's always a doomed because somehow every meal with her, the first thing we'd think of is Pizza Hut. And that's where we really ended up. They just recently added on cabonarra spaghetti to their personal set meals so that's what I ordered. I know.... it's weird to go to a pizza place and not have pizza, I've come to realize that I haven't bitten into any pizza ever since I got my braces on. It's been pasta. And always cheesy pasta. I took pics but it's Pizza Hut, which I believe everyone knows how their pizza and pasta looks like, so I won't post them up here (I'm still not sure if there's a limit to how many pictures you can put up in a post and stuff like that). Haha!
And then came 26th Oct, my 23rd Bday!
A big THANK YOU to all the darlings out there that wished me, and for those who didn't, it doesn't matter. No biggie!
My dear brother took me to Chili's, the one and only branch currently in Penang. Now this was the only pre planned meal. I really wanted to go to Chili's. Really really, ever since I missed out on opportunities to Chili's while I was in KL and Midvalley was just 25min away and I can go on and on about the good reviews of friends and cousin about it.
I took leave. I was even prepared to go by myself alone if he or his gf wasn't gonna go with me. Talk about semangat. Haha!
Turns out.....the food was great but the service was *sigh*
Maybe I had too high expectation. Haha!
We ordered Lamb Shank as one of our main dish. The meat was tender, and so was the brocolli much to mine surprise. But it came first!!! Before our starter. To be nice we can say they mix up the order of the orders. But personally I think that shows a lack of attention from the waiter. Starter, main, then only dessert ma....
And summore it was obvious we 3 people were sharing our courses, he should have brought us smaller plates (which did came when another waiter brought us our 2nd main that was ordered much much later, since we were afraid we couldn't finish). One erk after another.
This was our starter. Triple Play (I hope I get the name right), because it's a combo of 3 different starters in one plate.

When we started finishing this and the Lamb Shank only, we ordered our next main dish. Right after we ordered the 2nd main dish, the waiter asked if we wanted our dessert. Just ordered, maybe not even started being cooked in the kitchen, and we are suppose to have our dessert? This really bug me at the time, but come to think of it, it's our own fault for not choosing a 2nd main when the initial order was taken. Then there wouldn't have been this kind of mix up. And also later on, while waiting for the dessert, I realized the reason why he kept asking (again, when we were having our 2nd main) was because it took some time for the dessert to come out from the kitchen. A lesson learned there.
The famous Oldtimer with cheese.
They even provide a knife for you to cut up the burger to share. So nice. See.. so anxious to dig in, had to take picture with the knife in it. And such big fries on the side. Haha.
Too bad about the same waiter again, another erk. He was anxious to clear up all the plates before getting our dessert out, he didn't notice that my brother haven't finish his share of the burger....and my brother had to speak out. It was pretty obvious not finished eating, after all the smaller plates was only given when the 2nd main dish came, one semi quarter of a 200gm burger on my brother's plate leh...... Come to think of it, do people eat their burgers halfway and just...leave them? Chinese culture as I know it here a real no, finish everything, don't waste food. Haha!
Then the Molten Chocolate Cake came....

Now this was just.......amazing. The top part where the ice cream is, is coated with hardened chocolate. Like McD's ChocoTop. There was like little rivers oozing out from under the chocolate while I took the picture. So you knock out the chocolate coating, to get to the vanilla ice cream.

And then digging into the middle of the cake, right under the vanilla scoop, thick warm chocolate sauce ooze out. It was soooo good!!! And the hyper that comes with chocolate, haha! Even though I was already full from all the other dishes, I somehow found place in my stomach to chiam most of this. Heck, I won't have mind eating another of that!!!
My eating spree continues tomorrow, dim sum with Chen Tsi. This one was also a last minute plan on Wednesday. So much fine food in 4 days in a row. Haha. Will blog on that soon.
