Pizza toast

Ohh what pleasure a little pasta sauce, cheese, mushrooms and bak kwa can give!

Words from the heart

And now I can see you in my head,
making your way to me across the yard,
the slowness baffling me,
as I am asking to play a while longer in school.

'Neng kat' as we called it back then,
words that continually amused you,
for how different this child was learning her Hokkien,
far from ancestral Penang roots.

If I stay quiet long enough,
I can hear the tinkle of that old melody you play,
black notes that impressed me as a child,
rightful key learnt in my youth.

And you are whole in my head,
white hairnet in place,
gold chain belt holding up the 'mua' around your waist,
nothing like the shell that's left behind now.

You've been wanting this end long enough,
desire that has come now you have let go of it,
just like I've always known it would,
yet couldn't cruelly tell you so.

Word of the day

Psalm 94:16-19 MSG
Who stood up for me against the wicked? Who took my side against evil workers? If God hadn’t been there for me, I never would have made it. The minute I said, “I’m slipping, I’m falling,” your love, God, took hold and held me fast. When I was upset and beside myself, you calmed me down and cheered me up.

You make all things new

It's the first week of the year and I have new stuff to blog about!

Plants vs zombies 2 totally rocks!
Except for the special power that requires me to pinch the screen.
Then my fingers just totally fail on me.

Introduced to a new mamak place called Jiao Sai ('Bird shit' of all things!),
this is their tomyam maggi goreng.
And the chicken that comes with it is shredded.
Nice in its own way.
It's drier compared to Abu although surprisingly there wasn't like burnt crusts.
I think the ultimate comparison would be to order a normal maggi goreng and then we'll see.

On a lovely side note, I'm on my first on-call of the year and so far I've only got mostly OOO emails. *Fingers crossed* that it will stay this way!
