New gizmo

Featuring the latest babies in the house!! Our Panasonic Lumix FS3.
My is Blinky and Bee's is..................nameless. Hmph.

Teehehe!!!

Actually, this is my 2nd largest investment I've forked out since I started working.
The first was my handphone. After using Nokia 3310 for so long....I got myself a Sony Ericsson clamshell in May last year. At least for my handphone I had a solid reason that Nokia 3310 was old and extinct already. But for this.......I consider it an impulse. Reckless? Maybe.

I saw an ad on the way to work saying that a digital camera fair is at Gurney going on. So I told Bee and San. And we ended up going there thinking we can see different brands and just have fun looking. Lamely, the only promotion booth was Panasonic. The week before, San said it was Fuji (which was how she came about her Fuji F40fd)....so I guess the camera brands were taking turns. We just looked and played abit with the few models there and was going to walk away when the Panasonic sales person came back from his dinner. And we got reeled in to an hour and a half of explanation, bargaining, and color decision-making by yours truly!

I discover that, comparing Blinky (a camera) with my handphone (which doesn't have a name because I forgot to name it when I bought it!) this isn't a need. More like a want.
What more when I have butterfingers and I have the shakiest hands when it comes to taking pictures. Once, a cousin said my hands looked like I was on Estacy while I was taking pictures at his wedding ceremony. Talk about an F for Fail.
So I really question why would I want a digital camera.

Of course the fact that Bee wanted one (she has wanted a Lumix camera for years!!) was a motivation that the price will drop further if I got it as well. Benefiting both of us. That said we got it for RM726 (cash) from the original RM799. :D
It came with a 2gb memory card, mini tripod, lcd protector and a neckstrap. Money wise I would say it was really worth it!

Plus, this Panasonic Lumix FS3 with 8.1-megapixel has iA (intelligent Auto) function. It is able to determine what sort of picture you are taking whether it's a macro shot, people shot or scenery shot and then adjust itself for you.
I think what I like most about Blinky is its shake detector. There a mode where you can see how much of the picture shaking is done by your hands or by the object/surrounding you are pointing at. This is the sort of thing that makes you go....'That can help train my hands better!' and sorta adds to the pros of owning a new digital camera. Anti shake technology is after all also getting better.

A bonus to Bee (and San too!) is that now I don't have a solid reason to always bug her to bring her camera along every time we go on a food trip. Hahahahaha!

Here's some pictures of the actual cameras.

We got to choose from Black, Pink and Silver. So guess which one is mine? I'm not saying but here's a hint: Her name sorta rhymes with her color. Haha! Go figure!

It's hard forking out money like that......but once you've decided on it there's just no turning back. And all I can do is hope really really hard that I won't spoil it soon.
So cheers to my hopefully-will-improve photo-taking skills!!

Now that I've announce I burnt a big hole in my pocket...who wants to give me some $$?
